2018 | ENTERING THE CATERING INDUSTRY

The business expanded further into the catering and street food sector, manufacturing trailers and catering vehicles for trade partners throughout the UK.

Producing vehicles on behalf of specialist catering suppliers enabled the team to refine production processes and gain extensive experience in building practical, durable and visually striking food service units.

This period played a key role in shaping the catering trailer and food pod solutions offered today.

2026 MARCH | OWENS AEROSTREAMS LAUNCH

Building on years of experience within the catering and hospitality sectors, Owens launched its own range of Aerostream trailers and catering pods.

Imported and then carefully refined, customised and finished in Britain, each Aerostream is built to CE UK specifications and tailored to meet the individual needs of its owner.

Combining striking design with practical functionality, the Aerostream range represents the next chapter in the Owens story.

Our Journey So Far

2009 | WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...

The Owens story began with a shared passion for horses, vehicles and craftsmanship.

As a dressage rider, Francheska understood first-hand the importance of reliable transport, while Daniel’s creativity and engineering background naturally led him towards vehicle restoration and fabrication. After purchasing a damaged Bedford TK horse lorry and restoring it, the finished vehicle attracted significant interest and multiple offers from prospective buyers.

What started as a single restoration project quickly sparked a bigger idea, laying the foundations for what would eventually become Owens Horseboxes and Owens Coachworks.

Soon after, Daniel and Francheska began sourcing, repairing and selling used horseboxes, building a reputation for quality workmanship and honest service.

2010 | CAMBRIDGESHIRE HORSEBOXES IS BORN

2013 | MANUFACTURING BEGINS

By 2013, the business had evolved from primarily repairing horseboxes to manufacturing them.

With demand for custom-built 3.5 tonne Horseboxes increasing, Owens Horsebox Limited was established as a dedicated manufacturing company, allowing the team to focus on designing and building high-quality Horseboxes from the ground up.

2015 | EXPANDING INTO BESPOKE COACHWORKS

2021 | SUPPORTING NATIONAL ORGANISATIONS

2026 JUNE | CONTINUED INVESTEMENT & GROWTH

With demand continuing to grow, Cambridgeshire Horseboxes (CHB) was established, offering horsebox hire, repairs and maintenance services.

As experience grew, the business completed its first two vehicle conversions, marking the beginning of a move towards bespoke manufacturing and custom-built projects.

As the company’s expertise in vehicle conversions grew, opportunities began to emerge beyond the equestrian industry.

The team started producing bespoke coach-built vehicles for commercial clients, including mobile retail units, demonstration vehicles and specialist conversions. One of the earliest projects included the creation of a mobile fishing tackle shop, opening the door to a whole new sector of custom vehicle manufacturing.

Working closely with shop fitters, designers and brand owners allowed the business to develop a reputation for delivering practical, high-quality mobile spaces tailored to individual requirements.

The reputation of the business continued to grow, leading to contracts with nationally recognised organisations including the National Trust, English Heritage and other major institutions.

Services expanded to include manufacturing, repairs, maintenance and vehicle movements, further strengthening Owens Coachworks' position as a trusted partner for both commercial and specialist vehicle projects.

As demand for bespoke builds, repairs and refinishing services continued to grow, Owens invested in its own dedicated spray booth facility.

This investment allows the team to carry out professional paintwork, colour changes, refinishing and restoration projects entirely in-house, further enhancing quality control and expanding the services available to customers.

Today, Owens continues to design, build, repair and refine bespoke horseboxes, catering trailers and specialist commercial vehicles for customers across the UK and beyond.
